(ADRIAN, Mich., Jan. 18) – The McKendree University men's D2 hockey team completed the road series sweep of Adrian College on Friday afternoon.
The Bearcats move to 18-4-1 overall on the season.
After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs got on the board first with a goal quickly into the second period. Sophomore
Daniel Nordlander (Göteborg, Sweden/Wasaskolan Tingsryd) evened the game at one with assists from juniors
Tyler Wilson (Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada) and
Wolfgang Davis (Langdon, ND/Billings Bulls NA3HL). Junior
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/Casper Coyotes WSHL) pushed the Bearcats ahead with just under two minutes left in the period with a power-play goal from Nordlander and sophomore
Connor Brennan (Castle Rock, CO/Regis Jesuit High School). The period ended with McKendree holding a 2-1 lead.
Nordlander netted his second goal of the game to extend the Bearcat lead to two with an assist from junior
Michael Weedman (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North High School). Naas continued his hot play in the series scoring his second of the game and fourth of the series on an empty net goal. Sophomore
Shayne Pluto (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Central Memorial High School) and senior
Lazar Lestaric (Belgrade, Serbia/National Sports Academy USHS) were credited with the helpers. McKendree went on to win the game 4-1.
Freshman
Wes Werner (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada/Sandwich Secondary School) stopped 20/21 shots, good for .952 save percentage.
The Bearcats will return home for their final home games of the season against Northern Illinois University on Jan. 25-26.
