(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 15) – The McKendree University D1 men's hockey team is set to host Midwest College Hockey (MCH) member, Maryville University to the McKendree Metro Rec Plex for the 2019-20 season home opener. The Bearcats will be making their official home debut as a D1 squad. Puck drop is slated for 7:30pm.
The Bearcats are 2-0 overall on the season after sweeping Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Sept. 27-28.
Sophomore
Otasowie Omoregie (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/) leads the offense with three goals and three assists, good for six points through two games. Senior
Alec Nichols (Cedar Rapids, IA/Northern Iowa Bulls NA3HL) facilitates the offense with a team-high five assists.
Through two games, freshman
Kayne Pasquet (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada/Peacock Collegiate) is 1-0 overall with a 2.00 goals against average and .929 save percentage. Senior
Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Cambridge Bears Junior A team) and sophomore
Wes Werner (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada/Sandwich Secondary School) split one game in net, posted a .941 and .923 save percentage, respectively.
About Maryville
The Saints come in at 2-6 overall on the season after splitting a two game series against MCH opponent, Midland University.
Offensively, Timothy Prexler leads the offense with four assists and seven total points. Kole Mudra is tied with Prexler for the team lead in assists and Damian Caringi posted the team-high in goals with four.
