(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 21) – The McKendree University men's D1 hockey team will return home for their first weekend series of the season with Midwest College Hockey (MCH) member, Midland University. Friday's puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm and Saturday is slated for 7:00pm.
The Bearcats enter at 7-1 overall and 5-1 in MCH play with the lone loss coming to Maryville on Oct. 30.
Offensively, the three leaders are senior
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/Casper Coyotes WSHL),
Lazar Lestaric (Belgrade, Serbia/National Sports Academy USHS), and sophomore
Otasowie Omoregie (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/). Naas paces the Bearcats with 13 goals, nine assists, and 22 points through eight games. Lestaric guides the offense with a team-leading 14 assists and Omoregie follows with four goals, 11 assists, and 15 points.
In the crease,
Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Cambridge Bears Junior A team) and sophomore
Wes Werner (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada/Sandwich Secondary School) are the primary netminders. Best posts a 1-1 record, 2.44 goals against average, and .914 save percentage. Werner sports a perfect 4-0 record, 2.54 goals against average, and .904 save percentage.
This series will mark the first ever matchup between McKendree and Midland.
About Midland
The Warriors come in at 6-8 overall and 2-4 in MCH. Andrew Carriere leads Midland in all categories with six goals, 12 assists, and 18 points through 14 games. Luke Sanko and Hamish Campbell each tie Carriere with six goals on the season.
In net, Dakota McDonald leads with a 2-6 record with eight games played. McDonald has a 3.13 goals against average and .874 save percentage. Tymen Edelkoort has a 2-2 record, 4.30 goals against average, and .841 save percentage.
