(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 7) – The McKendree University men's D1 hockey team on their first real road trip this season as they head up north to DeKalb, Ill. for a two game series with Northern Illinois University on Friday and Saturday. Friday's puck drop is scheduled for 7:50pm and Saturday is slated for 4:50pm.
The Bearcats sit at 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Midwest College Hockey (MCH) play. McKendree returns to the ice after hosting Maryville University on Oct. 30.
Through four games, senior
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/Casper Coyotes WSHL) and sophomore
Otasowie Omoregie (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/) lead the offense with eight points. Naas paces the squad with five goals while Omoregie is tied with senior
Alec Nichols (Cedar Rapids, IA/Northern Iowa Bulls NA3HL) for the team lead in assists with five.
In net, sophomore
Wes Werner (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada/Sandwich Secondary School) and
Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Cambridge Bears Junior A team) each have played two games. Werner leads with a 2-0 record, 3.24 goals against average, and .881 save percentage. Best has a 0-1 record, 3.43 goals against average, and .889 save percentage.
Last season, the Bearcats rolled through the visiting Huskies, outscoring them 22-3 in the two game series. The win on Jan. 26 marked
Garry Henson's 100
th career victory as head coach of the McKendree hockey program.

The Huskies enter the weekend at 2-5 overall and 2-2 in MCH play. Nicolas Gonzalez leads the offense with four goals and five points through seven games. Brad Krauser guides the offense with a team-high three assists.
In the crease, Chadwick Dodero and Brian Eisele share the time. Dodero is 1-3 overall, owns a 4.25 goals against average with a .886 save percentage. Eisele has a 1-2 record, 3.67 goals against average, and .871 save percentage.
