(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 12) – The McKendree University men's hockey program will play an exhibition game against the St. Louis Blues Alumni on Sept. 13 at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex in O'Fallon, Ill. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30p.m.
General admission tickets will be available for purchase on the door on Friday. Tickets are $20 for adults and $13 for children ages 5-12. Proceeds will benefit both the Blues Alumni and the McKendree hockey program.
"This is such a fun night for the community and McKendree Hockey. The guys really prepare and love competing against NHL talent. I cannot thank the Blues enough! The Alumni are so accommodating with their time. They always stick around and chat with our team after the game."
Some notable Blues Alumni include Jim Campbell, Darin Kimble, Reed Low, Andy McDonald, and Mike Zuke.
The new McKendree American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division-I squad will be making its debut against the St. Louis Blues Alumni team. This is the third consecutive year that the Bearcat hockey program will play the Blues Alumni.
In last year's game, the Blues Alumni team came out with an 11-5 victory over the Bearcats. McKendree would go on to post a 26-6-1 record and 17-1 record in the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) conference. The Bearcats would capture their third consecutive MACHA Gold Division title and would advance to the ACHA Central Region Tournament. This season will mark the first year in ACHA D-I along with the culmination of a new conference, Midwest College Hockey (MCH).
Fans will have the opportunity to win an autographed jersey from Bob Plager, Alex Steen, or Colton Parayko. There will also be a raffle to be a bench coach and water boy/girl for the Blues Alumni team.
The Bearcats will commence regular season play on Sept. 27 as they travel to East Alton, Ill. for a two game series against SIU-Edwardsville.
