(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 16) – The McKendree University men's D1 hockey team opens up the second half of the season on the road at Maryville. The Bearcats will look to win the season series against the Saints, with the series split at 1-1. Friday's contest is schedule for 7:45pm and Saturday is slated for 7:00pm.
The Bearcats sit at 8-2 overall on the season and 6-2 in Midwest College Hockey (MCH) play.
Leading the offense is senior
Dominic Naas (Neurensdorf, Zurich, Switzerland/Casper Coyotes WSHL) and
Lazar Lestaric (Belgrade, Serbia/National Sports Academy USHS). Naas posts a team-high in goals with 14 and points with 24. Lestaric facilitates the offense with a leading 15 assists, posting 21 total points.
In the crease,
Andrew Best (Midland, Ontario, Canada/Cambridge Bears Junior A team) and sophomore
Wes Werner (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada/Sandwich Secondary School) split time between the pipes. Best holds a 2-1 record, 2.02 goals against average, and .910 save percentage. Werner supports a 4-1 record, 3.08 goals against average, and .869 save percentage.
The two teams last met on Oct. 30 when Maryville captured a 4-3 win over the Bearcats. McKendree took a 5-4 win on Oct. 16 against the Saints.

The Saints enter the weekend at 9-13-1 overall on the season and 4-5-1 in MCH play. Offensively, Timothy Prexler paces the offense, leading in all categories with 12 goals, 12 assists, and 24 points. Anthony Stavrou follows with eight goals, 10 assists, and 18 points.
