(ST. LOUIS, MO. – Jan. 21) – The No.5 McKendree University men's wrestling team began their Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matchup at Maryville University and walked away victorious with a 37-3 victory. This puts the Bearcats at 1-0 record in the GLVC and a 5-2 record overall.

133-lb: Christian Mejia (Elkhart, IN/) won by a 9-7 decision over Anthony Pisciotta (MCK 6, MU 0)

141-lb: Jet Tryon (Buckner, MO/Oak Grove) was defeated in a 6-4 decision to Alex Waggoner (MCK 6, MU 3)

149-lb: Juwan Edmond (Bellwood, IL) pinned Tristian Barr at 0:55 (MCK 12, MU 3)

157-lb: Nate Smalling (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) won a 5-3 decision over Tanner Sparks (MCK 15, MU 3)

165-lb: Nick Foster (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) pinned Connor Villarmia at 5:44 (MCK 21, MU 3)

174-lb: Joshua Jones (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic) won an 8-2 decision over Bet Heli (MCK 24, MU 3)

184-lb: Daniel Filipek (Warrenton, MO/Warrenton) won my injury fall over Bailey Kelly (MCK 30, MU 3)

197-lb: Ryan Vasbinder (Grand Rapids, MI/Grandville) won by a 6-0 decision over John Anderson (MCK 33, MU 3)

285-lb: Caleb Gossett (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell Central) won my major decision (Maj. 9-1) over Max Darrah (MCK, 37, MU 3)

The Bearcats stay on the road for their next GLVC matchup as they travel to Springfield, MO. They will face Drury University on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 4:00 P.M. in Weiser Gym.
