(LEBANON, Ill. – Jan. 22) – The No.5 McKendree University men's wrestling team will be back on the mat this weekend against GLVC rival No.11 University of Indianapolis, on Sunday, Jan. 24. The Bearcats and Greyhounds will dual at 11:00 AM (CT) in the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center.
James Kisgen's team is coming off a huge 48-3 win over University of Central Missouri, in their home-opener Wednesday evening. Along with the regularly scheduled dual, the two teams held three exhibition matches for their athletes to get in extra dual under their belts. In the dual, the Bearcats took nine of the 10 weight classes, including the four weight classes won by forfeit. The three exhibition matches from
Nathan Callaway (Oswego, IL/Marmion Academy),
Zeke Waltz (Jerseyville, IL/Jersey Community), and
Wes Bockert (Fairbanks, AL/Lathrop) all were victories for the Bearcats.
No.11 University of Indianapolis will enter the rival dual with a 4-0 (2-0 in GLVC) record. The Greyhounds defeated No.17 Findlay 25-10 and No.8 Tiffin 26-18, on Jan. 16. Five of the Indianapolis wrestlers went undefeated in the two-dual afternoon, all national ranked in the top-10.
The last meeting between McKendree and Indianapolis was in the final match of the 2020 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Wrestling Championship. the Bearcats topped the Greyhounds, 27-10 and secured their third-consecutive conference title. Returnees from that dual include
