(O'FALLON, Ill., Feb.19) – The McKendree University men's hockey team captures a 3-1 victory over Maryville University on Friday evening at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.

The Saints got on the scoreboard first and the Bearcats held them to 1-0 through the end of the first period.
 
A minute into the second period, Brad Richardson (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada/John McCrae Secondary School) evened the score after connecting with senior Ryan Radke (Cave Creek, AZ/Cactus Shadows High School) and Daniel Nordlander (Göteborg, Sweden/Wasaskolan Tingsryd). McKendree locked Maryville down defensively, holding a 1-1 score into the final period.
 
About halfway through the final period, the Bearcats jumped ahead with a goal from Otasowie Omoregie (Pickering, Ontario, Canada/). Reader and Noah Scrum (Maryville, IL/Collinsville High School) were credited with assists. With only four seconds left on the clock, Kirill Proskurin (Moscow, Russia/School #750) scored McKendree's third goal of the night with help from senior Shayne Pluto (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Central Memorial High School).
 
In the net, senior goalie Wes Werner (LaSalle, Ontario, Canada/Sandwich Secondary School) made 44/45 saves, good for a .977 save percentage.
 
The Bearcats will face Maryville again on the road tomorrow night at 7:00pm.
