(CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Feb. 21) – The McKendree University men's D1 hockey team played Maryville University on Saturday night, falling to the Saints 5-2.
The loss moves the Bearcats to 3-3 overall on the season.
Maryville jumped on the board first, four minutes into the second period. With only five minutes left on the clock, the Bearcats tied the game with a goal from
Chris Noble (Holiday, FL/East Lake High School).
Jesper Lundqvist (Borlänge, Dalarna, Sweden/Hagagymnasiet) and
Daniel Nordlander (Göteborg, Sweden/Wasaskolan Tingsryd) were credited with the assists. After the Saints answered back with two more goals, Noble scored McKendree's second goal with help from
Ryan Radke (Cave Creek, AZ/Cactus Shadows High School) and Lundqvist. At the end of the second period, McKendree was down 3-2 to Maryville.
The Saints scored two additional goals during the final period, taking a three-goal lead. The Bearcats would go on to fall 5-2.
Up next for the Bearcats, they will be traveling to Waldorf University Feb. 27-28.
