The McKendree Women's tennis team was defeated by UMSL on Saturday by a final score of 6-1 on Saturday in St Louis.

McKendree would pick up one doubles win on the Tritons. At two doubles, sophomore Mariana Caicedo Mora (Cúcuta, Colombia/American International School of Mallorca) and graduate student Sara Kalkenova (Astana, Kazakhstan/Zerde School No.9) would emerge victorious by a final score of 6-4.

Singles play would see Kalkenova pick up the only singles win on the afternoon for the Bearcats, taking the victory at third singles by a final score of 6-3, 6-4.

"Even though we lost today, we are getting close as a team and keep working towards our goal," said Kalkenova following the match.

McKendree returns to the court on March 27 when they travel to Marshall, Mo to take on Missouri Valley College.
