The McKendree University men's tennis team dropped its first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament Friday afternoon, 4-0 to Southwest Baptist University.
Coming into the first round of the GLVC Tournament, the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats were nationally ranked No.22 and regionally ranked No.4. A tough opponent for the McKendree University Bearcats to face in the opening round.
The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats secured the opening doubles point by winning all three matches.
Leonardo Frederico Ryan Fung kept the first match close, but ultimately fell 6-3. On the court next to them at two doubles, Julappagari Reddy and
Jaydn Richardson were able to get on the board but fell 6-1.
Singles play came around and the Bearcats would play hard across all positions, but the power of the opposing Bearcats proved to be too much for the visiting Bearcats. The singles play ultimately ended in two sets or unfinished.
