O'Fallon, Ill. - McKendree University men's D1 hockey opened up its season on Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17 with a pair of games against local rival Marvyille. The Bearcats dropped both contests with the Friday night game at the Maryville Ice Hockey Center and Saturday's at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex. Maryville took the Friday matchup, 7-1, and the Saturday outing, 3-0.
The Bearcats started the year with a tough test via their local rival in the ninth-ranked Saints. McKendree was unable to hold off a strong attack on Friday night as the Saints put up seven in the season opener. McKendree struck back with one score by freshman forward

Ryan Radke. The goal marked Alexandrov's first collegiate goal and point as well as Kent's first goal and point.

Dylan Dallaire held goal in his first collegiate action, collecting 38 saves in the outing while holding net full time.
In game two of the weekend, McKendree and Maryville were in a dogfight throughout, battling for possession. The Bearcars held off the Saints' attack well one their home ice, but dropped the game 3-0.
