KENOSHA, Wis. - No.5 McKendree University men's wrestling (0-1) fell to the 10th-ranked UW-Parkside on Saturday afternoon during the Wisconsin Wrestling Showcase event. The Bearcats claimed wins in the 133, 174, and 197 weight classes but were unable to overcome extra-point victories by the Rangers. McKendree is back on the mats for another non-conference dual at Kentucky Wesleyan on November 14 at 7PM.
133 CLASS | Ryan Ripplinger over Joey Roti (5-4 decision)
Ripplinger tallied the victory following a late push with four points in the third period and a riding time point to lock-in the match. He earned an escape point to start the third before recording the lone takedown of the 133 bout, totaling five points for the win.
174 CLASS | Matt Ortiz over Brody Hemauer (5-4 decision)
Ortiz fell back early with a takedown by Hemauer but gathered an escape to make the match 3-1 at the end fo the first period. Ortiz then earned a second point after choosing to go down for the start of the second period. In the third, he added his takedown to push him over the top for the victory against Hemauer.
197 CLASS | Logan Kvien over Kaden Hooker (18-2 tech fall, 6:49)
Kvien rallied early and then often for a tech fall, extra points win in the 197 battle with four total takedowns plus a nearfall. He went for two takedowns in the first period while grabbing two more plus a two-point nearfall in the second and third periods of the match.

McKendree men's wrestling hits the road for another non-conference dual on November 14 at Kentucky Wesleyan with a 7PM start. The Bearcats will compete at the Lindenwood Open on Novemebr 18 following the mid-week dual.
