JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Bearcats opened the second semester portion of their schedule with a trip to the University of Jamestown. The Jimmies came into the weekend ranked number four in the latest ACHA D1 rankings. McKendree and Jamestown split the two-game weekend series with UJ taking Friday's game by the score of 3-2. The Bearcats bounced back on Saturday's game to knock off the Jimmies 4-1.
Friday, January 12th
The Bearcats got on the board first 12 minutes into the contest as Jonathan Davenport netted his fourth of the season on assists from Jack Harris and Matias Alexandrov. Holding the lead late in the period, the Jimmies scored two goals in the final three minutes to take the 2-1 lead into the first intermission. They would make it 3-1 in the opening minute of the second stanza and that score held going into the 3rd.
Alexandrov found the back of the net at the 12:51 mark of the third to get McKendree back within one. Cade Rosansky and Harmon Marien picked up the assists on the tally.
Jamestown outshot McKendree 51 to 20 as Chad Purdy stopped 48 of the Jimmies' shots.
Saturday, January 13th
The Jimmies jumped out to the 1-0 lead just fifty-one seconds into the contest. McKendree responded eight minutes later with Rosansky in the box for hooking. Jack Sumner netted his second of the season, a shorthanded tally on the assist from Trevor Voyda.
Tied at one going into the final frame, the Bearcats scored two goals in a span of two minutes to give them the 3-1 lead. Alexandrov found the back of the net for his second of the weekend and sixth of the season. Steven Brachert scored his fourth of the season on the power play with the assist from Alexandrov, who tallied four points on the weekend. Brad Richardson added an empty-net goal with 35 seconds to play for his sixth of the season.
Despite getting outshot 64 to 30, McKendree goalkeeper Chad Purdy stopped 63 of the 64 Jamestown shots in the victory.
The Bearcats will remain on the road as they travel to Iowa State University for a two-game set on Friday, January 19th and Saturday, January 20th.
