CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – The McKendree men's hockey team dropped the puck on their 2024-25 season with a trip across the river to take on No. 9-ranked Maryville University Saints. The Saints would take the opener by the score of 4-0.
Despite the score, the story of the night was junior goalkeeper Dylan Dallaire returning to the crease for the first time in 564 days for the Bearcats. He missed all of last season due to injuries. The Timmins, Ontario native was came out strong in the opening stanza stopping 21 of the 22 Saint shots. For the contest, he stopped 42 of 46 shots in his return to the ice.
The Bearcats had their chances as the Saints had seven penalties, but McKendree went 0 for 7 on the power play.
McKendree will host the University of Illinois in a two-game series this weekend to open Midwest Conference Hockey play. Puck drop on Friday, September 13th is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. from the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.
