SMITHVILLE, Mo. - The men's golf team opened up the fall season with a trip to the Kansas City Cup, hosted by William Jewell College on September 23rd and 24th. The event was scheduled for 36 holes the first day and 18 on the second day. The second round on Monday, was suspended at 7:00 p.m. due to darkness with the majority of the field having 3 to 4 holes left to play on Tuesday morning.
The Bearcats entered two teams into the field with their "A" team placing in 3rd with a 893 (301-298-294). The "B" team finished in 11th with a 940 (319-307-314).
Leading the way for the "A" team was senior Thomas Tollefsen who placed in 2nd with a three-under 213 (71-72-70). Senior Griffin St. Pierre was tied for 12th with a 224 (74-75-75). Sophomore Aidan O'Keefe shot a total of 229 (84-74-71) to finish in tied for 21st. Freshman Matthew Wood finished in a tie for 32nd with a 234 (75-77-82). Junior Hata Iemkanitchat rounded out the "A" team with a 240 (81-81-78).
The "B" was led by freshman Pe Nontarux who tied for 19th with a 228 (79-72-77). Junior Trystan Du Plessis tied for 30th with a 233 (78-74-81). The other junior on the "B" team was Wouter Villhaber who finished in solo 48th place with a 241 (82-82-77). Sophomore Kyle Peck finished one shot behind his teammate with a 242 (80-83-79). Rounding out the "B" team was freshman Thierry Boucher who tied for 51st with a 243 (83-79-81).
