CLEVELAND, Ohio – The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup wrapped up earlier this week and the McKendree University Bearcats finished in 49th position with 377.75 points.
In the spring, they received points from women's golf qualifying for the NCAA East Regional and women's water polo advancing to their first-ever NCAA tournament. Women's golf received 20 points for their finish in Allendale, Michigan. Women's Water Polo received 25 points for their birth in the NCAA tournament and falling to Wagner University.
In the GLVC, the Bearcats finished in fourth behind Indianapolis, Lewis and Maryville.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final D-II standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball, and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
