RICHMOND, Va. – McKendree Men's Swim and Dive program earned 197 points and set to open the season as the sixth best team in the country at the Division II level The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced Tuesday.

The Bearcats are coming off a sixth-place finish from the Division II National Championships where they earned 246.5 points and won two individual events and a multitude of All-American finishes in Evansville, Indiana.

McKendree is returning 14 athletes with five of them coming off national experience this previous year. The program also added 13 newcomers to the team this year, growing the program to a total of 27 athletes.

Head Coach Jimmy Tierney had this to say about the upcoming men's season "The men, similar to the women's team, has a very new look and feel to it. 12 of the 29 members are new this year which is exciting. We have a lot of room to grow as a team, and see many of these young athletes develop into impact Division II performers. We have a lot of work ahead of us as we look to stay competitive with the national powers. We have the energy and passion to make something special happen. It's going to be fun".

McKendree opens the season today with the St. Louis Showcase in Edwardsville, Ill. They will be competing at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center October 3rd with events starting at 10:30 a.m.
