BELLVILLE, Ill. – McKendree Women's bowling finished up the NCAA Season at the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament after a third-round exit at Bel-Air Bowl this past weekend.
The tournament format was composed of head-to-head matches with one traditional match and a five-game baker total pinfall match. If the teams split winning one each of those matches, then the tiebreaker was a best-of-seven baker match to decide the winner.
On the first day of competition No. 3 McKendree was matched up with No. 6 Lewis for the first round where they took the 2-1 victory. The Flyers took the first point in the traditional match, winning by a score of 961-842. The Bearcats fought back in the baker games, taking the 893-794 victory. In the tiebreaker McKendree kept the momentum winning four games to one to move on to the next round.
In the afternoon session, the team was matched up with No. 2 Newman. Unfortunately, the Jets took both matches by scores of 881-840 in the traditional match and 971-887 in the baker match.
On Saturday, McKendree looked to stay alive with a matchup against No.4 Central Missouri. The high scoring affair saw the Jennies take the traditional match with a victory of 1009-990. Shanna Kimball highlighted the Bearcats with a 244 game. Central Missouri would win the baker match to move on over McKendree with a score of 909-860.
Although this ends the NCAA season for McKendree, they are now looking forward to competing at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercolleigete Team Championships in Green Bay, Wisconsin from April 13th through April 18th. Addysen Case will also be competing for a USBC Intercolleigete Singles Championship during the same week. All competition will be held at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley.
