NEW ORLEANS, La. – McKendree's men's powerlifting team took home the raw collegiate national championship at the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals Sunday. Two Bearcats earned individual national championships, and six were named as All-Americans.
McKendree tabbed a total of 60 points (3,193 dots).
Esteban Mallory and
Chase Lorbiecki were the two Bearcats that placed first in their respective weight class, earning the national champion title. Mallory walked away as the national champion of the 67.5kg raw weight class, grabbing a total of 12 points. Mallory finished with a weight total of 640kg, successfully completing 215kg in squat, 150kg in bench, and 275kg in deadlift. Lorbiecki walked away as the national champion of the 110kg raw weight class, grabbing a total of 12 points. Lorbiecki finished with a weight total of 822.5kg, successfully completing 325kg in squat, 187.5kg in bench, and 310kg in deadlift. Mallory and Lorbiecki also earned All-American Honors for their dominant finish. Joining them as All-Americans was
Evan Dressel and
Christopher Cancino. Dressel grabbed a second place finish, recording nine total points and finishing with a weight total of 725kg. Cancino also grabbed a second place finish, tallying a total on nine points and finishing with a weight total of 450kg.
Indiana Gray and Tyren Holmes each grabbed a fourth place finish in their respective weight class, earning a total of seven points to the Bearcats overall total. Gray finished with a weight total of 422.5kg and Holmes finished with a weight total of 780kg.
Zachary Rucker and
Glenterrius Brown both grabbed seventh place finishes in their respective weight class, each tallying a total of four points to McKendree's overall total. Rucker finished with a weight total of 737.5kg, and Brown finished with a weight total of 520kg.
In the equipped category, the Bearcats placed seventh with
Parker Anderson and
Grayson Cook both earning All-American honors. Anderson finished second in his respective weight class, recording nine points and finishing with a total weight of 822.5kg. Cook placed second in his respective weight class, notching eight total points and finishing with a total weight of 782.5kg.
