McKendree University Athletics

A 2012 graduate of McKendree University and alumnus of the Football program, Jason Rejfek enters his second season as Head Coach in 2025. After being named interim head coach before the 2024 season, Rejfek had the interim tag removed on November 19th, 2024.

The Bearcats concluded the season with a 5-6 overall record, and went 4-4 in the GLVC. The team ranked in the Top 15 nationally in two categories - First Down Offense and Time of Possession. Eddie Clark broke the program’s single-season rushing yards record with 1,151. Ty Michael was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week after a 400 passing yard performance against UIndy. 

2018-2023 | Assistant Coach | McKendree University
Rejfek served as the team’s defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach from 2019-2023. 

As the wide receivers coach in 2018, Rejfek coached three All-GLVC wide receivers: Jalyn Williams, Josh Revay, and Matt Cole. Williams set a school record with eight touchdown catches that season. 

2015-2017 | Assistant Coach | Lindenwood University
In his final two seasons with the Lions, Rejfek served as the program’s recruiting coordinator. 

In 2016, Rejfek was the defensive line coach, leading their defensive line to a program record in quarterback sacks. 

In 2015, he was the defensive backs coach, aiding the defensive backs to a school record for interceptions. 

Rejfek was also part of the staff during the program’s transition into Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) membership for the 2015 season. 

2012-2014 | Assistant Coach | Point University
Was part of Point University’s first-ever coaching staff, serving as the Defensive Coordinator during his entire three-season stretch with the Skyhawks. 

His time at Point included other varying capacities like practice plan developing, linebackers coach, and defensive backs coach. Rejfek also was the team’s video coordinator. 

2008-2011 | Linebacker | McKendree University
Rejfek was a First Team All-MSFA linebacker as a junior in 2010. His 216 career tackles are ninth on the McKendree All-Time Tackles List. His 95 tackles during the 2010 season are seventh on the single-season list. He enters the 2025 season still tied for third in program history with five career fumble recoveries. 

He started every game at outside linebacker in his last three seasons with the Bearcats, who won two MSFA league championships and made two NAIA Playoff appearances. 

2004-2007 | Hersey High School
Rejfek played both running back and linebacker while with the Hersey Huskies out of Arlington Heights, Illinois. 

Personal
Rejfek and his wife, Sami, have been married for six years and have one son, Logan Thor.
