Peter Gonzalez, Jr.

Peter Gonzalez, Jr., is in his first season as an assistant football coach for McKendree University. Gonzalez, Jr., will coach the running backs with the Bearcats.

Gonzalez, Jr., comes to McKendree after serving as the offensive coordinator for the past 13 years at Montebello High School in Monteballo, Calif. Gonzalez, Jr., worked alongside his father, Peter, who was Monteballo’s head coach. 

In his time at Monteballo, Gonzalez, Jr., was part of coaching staff that helped improve the school's league record from 10-15 to 32-3 and also increased the school's offensive average from 20.1 points to 37.6 points per season. During his time at Monteballo, the school won 21 consecutive league games. 

Along with working at Montebello High School, Gonzalez, Jr., spent the 2020 fall season working as an offensive assistant coach at El Camino College in Torrence, Calif. In his duties at El Camino College, he coached the running backs. 

Prior to going to Monteballo, Gonzalez, Jr., worked with his father as the offensive coordinator at St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. While at St. Paul High School, the program won the 2007 Division 3 CIF Championships and also captured the 2007 Mission League title. He was also selected to serve as the offensive coordinator at three separate All-Star Games. 

In his high school coaching career, Gonzalez, Jr., led Monteballo to five league titles in the last seven years and eight playoff appearances and led a Top 10 scoring offense in five of the last seven seasons.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.Â
