(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 21)--The McKendree University football team will put its perfect Homecoming record on the line Saturday when the Bearcats play host to Trinity International University Saturday at Leemon Field. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
McKendree has not lost in 15 previous Homecoming games since the football program was revived prior to the 1996 season. Last year, the Bearcats battled to a 24-14 victory over William Penn University in front of the returning alumni, handing the Statesmen their only loss of the season.
The Bearcats enter Saturday's contest with an 0-6 ledger, and are coming off a 14-0 loss last weekend at Grand View University. Trinity International University comes to town with an overall mark of 1-5. The Trojans were defeated last Saturday at home by the University of St. Francis (Ill.), 36-3.
McKendree senior linebacker
Brandon Nigro (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way Central) sits just 18 tackles shy of the Bearcats' career mark for tackles. Nigro will begin Saturday's contest with 259 career stops, and trails the current mark of 277 tackles which was established by Mike Garavalia from 1996-99.
Saturday's game will be carried live on the Bearcat Sports Network and also on Cardinal Country WIBV, 102.1 FM. Adam Young will have the call of the contest, beginning with the pre-game show at 1:15 p.m.
