GAME NOTES

(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 6)--
The McKendree University football team will look for its fourth consecutive victory over Saint Ambrose University when the Bearcats travel to Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday to take on the Fighting Bees. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport.

Saturday's game can be heard live on the Bearcat Sports Network (www.mckbearcats.com) and on WIBV radio (102.1 FM) in Mt. Vernon. Scott Cummings will have the pre-game show beginning at 12:45 p.m.

McKendree, 0-4 on the year after a 25-10 home loss last Saturday against Truman State University, has taken each of the last three meetings with Saint Ambrose, including last year's 21-14 decision in Davenport. The Bearcats built a 21-0 lead after three quarters of play in that contest, then withstood a late rally from the host Fighting Bees to notch the victory. McKendree's defense limited Saint Ambrose to just 95 yards of total offense in the first 45 minutes of play and also provided a big score just before halftime on a 30-yard interception return by J.T. Smith (Clinton, Ill./Clinton).

Saint Ambrose scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull within 21-14, but the Bearcats recovered an onside kick after the Fighting Bees' last score with just under three minutes to play to register the win.

Saint Ambrose enters Saturday's contest with a 3-1 overall record and 2-0 mark in Mid-States Football Association-Midwest League play. The Fighting Bees moved up two spots to No. 18 in the latest NAIA coaches' poll with a 17-9 win last week at Grand View University.

McKendree and Saint Ambrose have met each season since 1998, with the Fighting Bees holding a slight 7-6 edge in the overall series. The Bearcats are 3-4 on the turf at Brady Street Stadium.
