(LEBANON, Ill., March 20)—The McKendree University men's tennis team pulled off its most impressive victory to date on Friday, knocking off the University of Southern Indiana, 5-4. The match was played at Kings Point Tennis Club.

With the match tied at 4-4, the contest came down to No. 3 singles between McKendree's Fabio Tsuchiya (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Ateneu) and Southern Indiana's Juan Quiroz. Tsuchiya grabbed the first set 6-5 before Quiroz rallied to take the second set, 7-5. Playing in the third-set tie-breaker, Tsuchiya battled to a 7-5 victory to give the Bearcats the victory.

The Bearcats and Screaming Eagles split their six singles matches while McKendree won two of the three doubles matches.

McKendree, ranked No. 20 in NAIA Division I, earned its fifth consecutive victory to go to 5-1 on the year. Southern Indiana, which is ranked No. 34 in NCAA Division II and third in its region, slipped to 4-3. The Bearcats played at Truman State University on Saturday before hosting Webster University on Tuesday.
