(LEBANON, Ill., March 23)—The McKendree University men's tennis team pushed its win streak to seven consecutive matches with a 5-4 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday. The match was played at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.

The Bearcats swept through doubles play to highlight the victory. All three matches were close, with the No. 3 doubles tandem of juniors Doug Mennerick (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) and Davi Venditto (Jundiai, Brazil/Divino Salvador) (Jundiai, Brazil) posting a 9-8 win in the tightest of the three contests.

In singles play, the Bearcats registered victories at the No. 2 and No. 5 positions. Junior Gabor Toth (Cegleo, Hungary/Kossuth Lajos) (Cegleo, Hungary) earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, while freshman Luciano Misitrano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/ORT) (Buenos Aires, Argentina) took home a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 singles slot.

McKendree will be in Springfield, Ill., for the Hack Kellner Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The two-day tournament will be hosted by the University of Illinois at Springfield.
