MEN’S TENNIS BOUNCES BACK INTO WIN COLUMN WITH 7-2 TRIUMPH OVER MISSOURI VALLEY

Fabio Tsuchiya did not lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles

(LEBANON, Ill., April 11)—The McKendree University men's tennis team recovered from its Saturday morning loss to Washington University with a 7-2 home victory Saturday afternoon against Missouri Valley College.

 

The Bearcats, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, earned their 15th victory in the last 16 matches to improve to 15-2 on the year. McKendree will have a few days off before heading to Truman State University for a match on Friday at 4 p.m.

 

Against Missouri Valley, McKendree won all three doubles matches along with four of the six singles contests. Sophomore Fabio Tsuchiya (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Ateneu) (Sao Paulo, Brazil) turned in a pair of solid performances against the Vikings. Tsuchiya swept through his match at No. 3 singles, winning both sets by a 6-0 count. He then teamed with sophomore Barnabas Toth (Cegleo, Hungary/Kossuth Lajos) (Cegleo, Hungary) to post an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.
