(LEBANON, Ill., April 7)—The McKendree University men's tennis team won its final three singles matches Wednesday at Lindenwood University and pulled away for a 6-3 non-conference victory.
The Bearcats, who moved up to No. 18 in the latest NAIA tennis rankings, collected their 13th consecutive win to improve to 13-1 overall. McKendree will look to continue its winning ways Thursday on the road against Lindenwood University-Belleville.
On Wednesday in St. Charles, Mo., the Bearcats and Lions were tied 3-3 with matches remaining at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Playing at No. 3 singles, sophomore Fabio Tsuchiya (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Ateneu) (Sao Paulo, Brazil) rallied from a set down to win his match in three sets, 1-6, 6-4 and 6-4. Freshman Luciano Misitrano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/ORT) (Buenos Aires, Argentina) also needed three sets to take the No. 5 singles contest, 6-7 (2), 6-1 and 6-0. Misitrano's triumph was the fifth point, securing the match win for the Bearcats.
Junior Davi Venditto (Jundiai, Brazil/Divino Salvador) (Jundiai, Brazil) sealed the comeback by battling to a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles, winning both sets by a 7-6 (4) count.
