Head coach Carl Poelker, who is the all-time wins leader in McKendree football history, will coach in the 300th game of his head coaching career when the Bearcats take the field at Indianapolis. Now in his 31st season as a collegiate head coach, Poelker has compiled an overall record of 202-96-1. Of those 202 victories, 114 of them have come at McKendree. Poelker is also the all-time wins leader at Millikin University, having earned the first 88 wins of his career at the helm of the Big Blue from 1982-95.
Indianapolis is 1-2 overall after winning its GLVC opener last Saturday at Quincy University, 35-7. Indianapolis was picked as the pre-season favorite to win the inaugural GLVC title back in July.
Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting on the gridiron between McKendree and Indianapolis. The game will also mark the first of four road games in a five-game stretch for the Bearcats, with the lone home game during that time coming Oct. 6 on Homecoming against William Jewell College.
