The McKendree University women's basketball team returns home for its first two games of a three-game home stand this weekend. The Bearcats host Lewis University on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m., game on Saturday against University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS: Lewis enters the week with an overall record of 10-2 overall and 3-1 in the GLVC. The Flyers have won four of their last five games, including two wins last week at home over William Jewell College, 65-56, and Rockhurst University, 76-67. Lewis received three votes in the latest USA TODAY Sports Division II Basketball Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. McKendree won the only meeting between the two schools, 64-57, last season on Nov. 14 in Romeoville, Ill.
SCOUTING THE RANGERS: Wisconsin-Parkside enters the week with an overall record of 8-4 and 2-2 in the GLVC. The Rangers split their two games last week, defeating Rockhurst, 59-57, before dropping a 64-61 loss at William Jewell. McKendree won the only meeting between the two schools, 66-65, on Jan. 31, 1993 in Lebanon.
MILESTONE WATCH: Woelfel needs four blocks to move into a tie for eighth place with Suzy Gerler on McKendree's all-time blocks list. Woelfel currently has 74 career blocks. Voss needs one steal to move into a tie for eighth place with Danna Gilbert on McKendree's all-time steals list. Voss currently has 166 career steals.
