The McKendree University women's basketball team will make its Great Lakes Valley Conference-debut tonight at 5:30 p.m., against University of Illinois-Springfield. The Bearcats and Prairie Stars were previously foes in the American Midwest Conference when both institutions were members of the NAIA.

On Saturday, McKendree will host Quincy University for a GLVC contest at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE STARS: Illinois-Springfield enters GLVC play with an overall record of 3-5, and lost its last contest to
Lindenwood, 66-62, on December 15. McKendree owns an 18-4 record all-time against the Prairie Stars, but lost the last meeting, 76-71, last season on December 30, 2011.

SCOUTING THE LADY HAWKS: Quincy enters the first weekend of GLVC play with an overall record of 2-6. The Lady Hawks snapped a four-game losing streak on December 17 with an 84-37 win over Hannibal-LaGrange University. Quincy holds a 16-3 record all-time over McKendree.

CONFERENCE LEADERS: Sophomore guard Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) currently leads the conference in scoring with 21.3 points/game. She is also one of the GLVC's best free throw shooters, ranking second with a .921 shooting clip from the line. Senior forward Shelby Woelfel (Jerseyville, Ill./Jerseyville) is currently ranked third in the GLVC with 1.4 blocks/game.
