Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) both had career-high scoring efforts, but the McKendree University women's basketball team fell 82-69 on Tuesday night in St. Charles, Mo.
The Bearcats fall to 1-1 overall and will travel to Springfield, Ill., on Nov. 22-23 to compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover Classic. McKendree will face Hillsdale College on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and Lake Superior State University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Johnson and sophomore guard 
Liz Gilman (St. Louis, Mo./Principia) each had 12 points to lead the Bearcats, which were career and season-high's, respectively. Senior guard 
Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) and Alexander also each had 10 points in the loss.
McKendree started the game on a 5-0 run and built its largest lead, 14-7, following a jumper by junior forward 
Haeley Kreisel (Warsaw, Mo./Warsaw) at the 14:37 mark of the first half.
Lindenwood got on a roll and answered with a 15-2 run to gain the lead, 22-16, with 7:55 left in the first half, and the Bearcats trailed 36-26 at the break.
McKendree cut the lead to six, 36-30, at the start of the second half, but Lindenwood went on a 11-0 run to extend its lead to 47-30 with 17:47 left in the game.
The Bearcats cut the deficit to 53-46 with just under 13 minutes to play, but the deficit was too much to overcome in the loss.
Marissa Lehnig led all players with 23 points for Lindenwood.
