Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 7)- The McKendree University women's basketball team had three score in double-figures on Thursday night on the way to its first Great Lakes Valley Conference win at home, 71-52, over Saint Joseph's College.

The Bearcats improved to 7-13 overall and 2-10 in the GLVC after the win, and will host University of Indianapolis on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m.

Sophomore guard Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) led all players with 24 points, while senior forward Shelby Woelfel (Jerseyville, Ill./Jerseyville) scored 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to record her 10th career double-double. Junior guard Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points in the win.

The Bearcats gave up the first point of the contest less than one minute into the game, but scored shortly after and never looked back. McKendree scored the next seven points of the game to jump out to a 7-1 lead with 15:29 left in the first half, and picked up its first double-digit lead of the first half, 30-19, on a three-pointer by freshman guard Liz Gilman (St. Louis, Mo./Principia) with just over three minutes to go in the half.

McKendree shot 51.7-percent (15-29) from the field in the first half, while holding the Pumas to 25-percent (8-32) in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Bearcats remained in control after the break and held on to its double-digit lead for all but 1:19 of the second half.
