Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (LEBANON, Ill., April 14)- The McKendree University softball team was unable to get into a rhythm offensively on Sunday and was swept in a doubleheader by Lewis University, 10-0 in six innings in game one, followed by a 4-3 loss in game two.

The Bearcats fall to 9-22 overall and 7-16 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, April 17 to face Maryville University in a doubleheader at 2 p.m.

McKendree only had three hits in game one and lost 10-0 in six innings in game one. The Flyers scored four runs in both the third and sixth innings to earn the game one win.

The Bearcats trailed 4-1 in game two, but had a seventh inning rally come up short and fell 4-3.

McKendree struck first in the first inning, and took a 1-0 lead on a sac fly by sophomore centerfielder Erica Johnson (New Baden, Ill./Wesclin) that brought in junior leftfielder Caitlin Stredde (Pingree Grove, Ill./South Elgin) from third to go up 1-0.

Lewis plated two runs in the second and third inning to jump out to a 4-1 lead after three innings. In the bottom of the seventh, a single by junior second baseman Ashley Scheffler (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) scored junior rightfielder Kay Koonce (Greenville, Ill./Greenville) and freshman catcher Marla Schulte (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) to cut the defict to 4-3, but the Bearcats were unable to generate any more runs and fell in game two.

Stredde and Scheffler each had two hits in game two, with Stredde hitting a double and scoring once, while Scheffler had two RBI.
