(RENSSELAER, Ind, April 20)- The McKendree University softball team lost both games of a conference doubleheader at Saint Joseph's College on Saturday, losing game one, 6-0, before dropping game two, 5-3.
The Bearcats fall to 9-24 overall and 7-18 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., on Sunday, April 21 to face No. 1 University of Indianapolis for a doubleheader at noon.
McKendree was unable to produce timely hits in game one, leaving seven runners on base, to fall 6-0 in game one. The Pumas led 1-0 heading into the fifth inning before scoring five runs over the final two frames. Sophomore centerfield

Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) each had doubles in game one.
The Bearcats led 2-0 early in game two, but Saint Joseph's rallied with five runs over the final three innings to take the nightcap.
McKendree got on the board in the second inning on a leadoff homer by Johnson to take a 1-0 lead, and junior second baseman
Ashley Scheffler (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) scored on an error by the shortstop to increase the lead to 2-0.
The Pumas tied the game in the fourth inning and took a 5-2 lead in the fifth inning, only for the Bearcats to cut the deficit to 5-3 in the sixth inning when Scheffler scored on a sac fly by junior leftfielder
Caitlin Stredde (Pingree Grove, Ill./South Elgin). McKendree was unable to reach base in the final inning to lose game two.
Johnson had a double and a homer, while Scheffler had two hits and two runs scored.
