(DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 12)- The No. 13 McKendree University women's wrestling team posted an 1-2 record on the final day of the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals to finish in eighth place.

The Bearcats are now 11-8 overall on the season, and will travel to Marshall, Mo., on Thursday, Jan. 16 for a dual match at No. 8 Missouri Valley College.

McKendree started the day with a 27-20 win over No. 8 Missouri Valley College. The Bearcats won five of its first six matches and earned points in three of its losses to hold on for the close win. Freshmen Anna Divins (Lancaster, Calif./Lancaster) and Lindsey Spjut (Montgomery, Texas/The Woodlands) both had wins by fall in the dual at 116 and 123 pounds, respectively, while No. 10 ranked Gabby Wehyrich (Fremont, Neb./Fremont) picked up a tech fall victory at 130 pounds.

In the consolation semifinals, freshman Tayler Resuriz (League City, Texas/Clear Falls) and Spjut were the only victors for the Bearcats in a 36-11 loss to Lindenwood. Resuriz, ranked No. 8, earned a 10-0 tech fall win over Andrey Diaz at 101 pounds, and Spjut pinned Isis Wadleigh in 1:01 at 116 pounds.

In the seventh place match, Resuriz, Divins, and freshmen Robin Torres (Rowland Heights, Calif./John A. Rowland) each had wins in a 35-12 loss to No. 6 Campbellsville University. Resuriz and Divins both had decision victories, while Torres won by forfeit.
