The McKendree University women's basketball team will play its first two divisional games of Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend.

The Bearcats host No. 25 Lewis University on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a contest against University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS: Lewis University enters Thursday's game ranked No. 25 in the latest WBCA/USA TODAY Sports Division II Coaches' Poll. The Flyers are currently 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the GLVC and are currently on a seven-game winning streak. Lewis swept its two games last weekend, earning a 76-73 win at Missouri-St. Louis and a 67-60 win at Maryville. The Bearcats are 1-2 against the Flyers in the all-time series.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS: University of Wisconsin-Parkside enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-8 and an 0-4 mark in the GLVC and have a five-game losing streak. The Rangers lost both its games last weekend, falling at UMSL, 74-50, and at Maryville, 78-60. McKendree is 1-2 all-time against Wisconsin-Parkside.

WILLIS CLOSING IN ON 1,000 CAREER POINTS: Senior guard Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) is also closing in on a spot in the 1,000 point club. She currently sits at 909 points, leaving her 91 points away from the 1,000 career points milestone. Willis would be the second McKendree  player to join the club this season after junior guard Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) did so on Dec. 22 at Kentucky Wesleyan.

UP NEXT: The Bearcats return home next weekend to play the last two games of a four-game homestand. McKendree hosts Saint Joseph's College on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Saturday game against #14 University of Indianapolis at 1 p.m.
