The McKendree University women's basketball hits the road this week after hosting a four-game homestand.
The Bearcats travel to Louisville, Ky., on Thursday, Jan. 30 to play at Bellarmine University at 5:45 p.m. ET, and will travel to Evansville, Ind., on Saturday, Feb. 1 to play University of Southern Indiana at 1 p.m.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS: Bellarmine University enters the week with an overall record of 9-8 and a 5-4 mark in the GLVC. The Knights split last weekend with an 82-77 win at Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday, before dropping a 90-82 decision at Lewis on Saturday. Darion Hutchison leads Bellarmine with 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds/game this season. McKendree is 0-3 all-time against the Knights, having narrowly lost the last meeting, 71-69, in last season's finale.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES: University of Southern Indiana enters the week with an overall record of 12-5 and a 6-3 record in the GLVC. The Eagles posted a 1-2 record last week, having dropped contests at Bellarmine and No. 23 Lewis, before bouncing back with a 58-45 win at Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday. The Eagles are led by Anna Hackert's 20.7 points and 8.7 rebounds/game this season. McKendree is 1-1 in the all-time series against Southern Indiana, winning the most previous matchup last season, 58-45, on Feb. 23.
MILESTONE WATCH: A few McKendree players are on the brink of hitting milestones in their collegiate careers. Senior
Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) needs 49 points to become the 14th member of the 1,000 point club at McKendree. Junior guard
Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) needs three points to pass Heather Elders for the No. 12 spot on the all-time scoring list, and sophomore guard
Liz Gilman (St. Louis, Mo./Principia) needs five 3-pointer's to reach 100 for her career and move into the top 10 in school history.
UP NEXT: The Bearcats return home next week to host No. 8 Drury UNiversity on Thursday, Feb. 6, followed by a contest against Missouri S&T on Saturday, Feb. 8.
