The McKendree University women's basketball team will play its first two Great Lakes Valley Conference road contests this weekend.
The Bearcats travel to play No. 23 Quincy University on Thursday, Jan. 9 for a 5:15 p.m., game, before making the trek west to Kirksville, Mo., to play a 1 p.m., contest against Truman State University.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Quincy University enters the weekend ranked No. 23 with an overall record of 9-2 and a 2-1 record in the GLVC. The Hawks split their two games on the road last weekend, edging Wisconsin-Parkside, 56-55, before dropping a 92-80 loss at Lewis. Senior center Hannah Weedman is Quincy's top offensive threat this season averaging 14 points/game. McKendree trails in the all-time series 17-3.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Truman State University enters the weekend with an overall record of 7-4 with a 1-2 mark in the GLVC. The Bulldogs dropped a 98-72 decision on Friday at Lewis, before snapping a three-game skid with a 74-68 win over Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday. Senior forward Nicole Gloor leads Truman State with 12.3 points/game. McKendree is 0-4 all-time against the Bulldogs.
WILLIS CLOSING IN ON 1,000 CAREER POINTS: Senior guard
Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) is also clsoing in on a spot in the 1,000 point club. She currently sits at 874 points, leaving her 126 points away from the 1,000 career points milestone. Willis would be the second McKendree player to join the club this season after junior guard
Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) did so on Dec. 22 at Kentucky Wesleyan.
MARYVILLE GAME RESCHEDULED: The game against Maryville that was postponed on Jan. 5 will now be played on Monday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
UP NEXT: The Bearcats return home to begin a four-game homestand next weekend. McKendree hosts Lewis University on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m., contest against University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Sat., Jan. 18.
