Danielle Amann-Stewart (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) matched her season high with 17 points in a 77-67 loss to Maryville University on Monday night.
The Bearcats fall to 7-16 overall and 2-13 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the loss and will travel to Somers, Wis., on Thursday, Feb. 20 to face University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 5:30 p.m.
Amann-Stewart's 17 points led McKendree in the loss, while junior guard
Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) added 15 points. Ponce is now tied with former Bearcat Katie Fullerton for 10th place on McKendree's all-time scoring list with 1,200 points. Senior guard
Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) and freshman guard
Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) also had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
McKendree used an 9-0 run early in the first half to take a 14-10 lead, but the Saints answered with an 8-0 run to regain the lead, 18-14, with just under 11 minutes to play in the first half. The Bearcats were outscored in the paint, 12-4, in the opening half and trailed 38-31 at the break.
McKendree played the Saints even in the paint in the second half, but was limited to only one three-pointer in the last half of play.
Brittany Fish led Maryville with 16 points.
