Box Score (SOMERS, Wis., Feb. 20)- The McKendree University women's basketball team snapped an eight-game skid on Thursday with a 59-54 win at University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
The Bearcats improve to 8-16 overall and 3-13 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will travel to Romeoville, Ill., on Saturday, Feb. 22 to face No. 15 Lewis University at 1 p.m.
Junior forward
Danielle Amann-Stewart (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) matched her season-high with 17 points in the second-straigh game and also pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in the win. Senior guard
Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway South) added 13 points and freshman forward
Emily Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) recorded her first collegiate double-double with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
Both teams battled back-and-forth in the first half with eight ties and four lead changes. Wisconsin-Parkside held its largest lead, 17-12, at the 12:26 mark, but McKendree regained the lead, 21-19, on a layup by Willis with 8:15 left in the half. The Bearcats pushed their lead out to 29-25, but went into the half tied 29-29.
McKendree retook the lead early in the second half and built its largest lead, 38-31, with 15:41 left in the game on a layup by Amann-Stewart. The Rangers briefly took a one-point lead with 6:49 left, but the Bearcats regained the lead and held on down the stretch to earn the win.
Gaby Bronson led Wisconsin-Parkside with 17 points.
