Box Score 2 (EVANSVILLE, Ind., March 30)- The McKendree University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at University of Southern Indiana on Sunday, falling 4-3 in game one and 6-3 in game two.
The Bearcats fall to 10-15 overall and 5-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will travel to Louisville, Ky., on Monday, March 31 to face Bellarmine University in a GLVC doubleheader at 1 p.m. ET.
McKendree took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning of game one, but gave up three runs over the final innings to fall 4-3. The Bearcats took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when junior shortstop
Kate Mayes (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) and junior centerfielder
Erica Johnson (New Baden, Ill./Wesclin) both scored on an error by the pitcher. A single by freshman third baseman
Hanna Branch (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) later scored junior designated player
Lindsay Schmitz (Streator, Ill./Streator Township) to take a 3-1 lead. USI scored two run in the fifth inning to tie the game and scored what proved to be the winning run in the sixth inning on a solo home run.

Susan Goetze (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) fell to 2-4 overall with the loss in relief, and freshman second baseman
Jamie Doggendorf (Dittmer, Mo./Northwest) had two hits in game one.
The Bearcats trailed 3-2 after two innings in game two, but were unable to get any closer in a 6-3 loss. McKendree trailed 3-0 after one inning, but cut the deficit to one on one swing of the bat on a two-run home run by Branch, the first of her collegiate career, to make the score 3-2. The Eagles scored three in the third inning to extend their lead to 6-2, but the Bearcats cut the score to 6-3 in the top of the seventh with a bases loaded walk. McKendree wasn't able to find any open field in its ensuing at bats and left three stranded on base to end the game.
Junior pitcher
Kelsie Stoszkus (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) fell to 4-5 and had two strikeouts in the loss, while junior first baseman
Katie Nauman (Amboy, Ill./Amboy) had two hits in game two.
