Men's Tennis Edges Bellarmine 5-4, Clinches Berth In GLVC Tournament

(BELLEVILLE, Ill., April 12)- The McKendree University men's tennis team clinched a berth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament on Saturday with a 5-4 win over Bellarmine University.

The Bearcats, ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region, improved to 18-4 overall and 4-2 in GLVC play with the win, are the No. 3 seed from the east division and will play University of Missouri-St. Louis, the No. 2 seed from the west division, in the opening round of the GLVC tournament at 9 a.m., on Friday, April 18. The tournament will be held at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo., on April 18-20.

Senior Luciano Misitrano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/ORT) was honored prior to the match as part of a senior day ceremony. Misitrano posted a win at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles on the day.
