Live StatsLive VideoThe McKendree University women's soccer team is set to begin their 2014 season with a pair of games this week.
The Bearcats travel south to Florence, Ala., for their season opener at University of North Alabama on Thursday, Sep. 4 at 7 p.m., and will host their home opener on Saturday, Sep. 6 at 4 p.m.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: Thursday's game is the first all-time meeting between the two teams, and also the first time McKendree has played a team from the state of Alabama. University of North Alabama finished the 2013 season with an overall record of 8-8-2 overall. The Bearcats are 4-1 in season openers over the last five seasons and are 0-1 all-time in the state of Alabama, dating back to a 2-1 overtime loss to Concordia University (Ore.), in the second round of the 2009 NAIA National tournament in Decatur, Ala.
SCOUTING THE TROJANS: The Trojans enter Saturday's game with an overall record of 0-2 this season. McKendree is 16-1-2 all-time against Hannibal-LaGrange University, as the Bearcats were formerly in the American Midwest Conference. McKendree is 9-0-1 in home opening games over the last 10 seasons. The last time both teams faced off was Oct. 27, 2011, when McKendree earned a 5-2 win.
