(FORT WAYNE, Ind., Jan. 10)- The No. 7 McKendree University women's wrestling team finished in third place on Saturday at the NWCA National Duals.

The Bearcats are off until they host the inaugural Bearcat Open on Jan. 23-24.

McKendree lost its first match of the day to Top-seeded King University, 36-5, but bounced back in the third place match to earn a 24-22 win over No. 4 Cambellsville University.

Freshman Alexis Porter (Ballston Lake, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School) earned the lone win for the Bearcats against King, earning a 7-1 decision over Lorrie-Ann Ramos at 155 pounds.

Sophomores Tayler Resuriz (League City, Texas, Clear Falls) and Arielle Hernandez (Cicero, Ill.) started McKendree off on the right foot against Campbellsville, picking upa tech fall and a pin in the first two mates to jump out to a 9-0 lead. Both teams traded wins until Porter and junior Ashley Miles (Katy, Texas, Morton Ranch) posted back-to-back tech fall wins at 155 and 170 pounds to put McKendree in front 24-17, and put things out of reach and earn the 24-22 win.
