Live Video(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 15)- The McKendree University women's basketball team will begin a five-game road trip on this weekend with a pair of games up north.
The Bearcats travel to Romeoville, Ill., to play No. 1 Lewis University at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, followed by a 1 p.m., contest on Saturday, Jan. 17.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS: Lewis University enters the weekend ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II with a record of 15-0 and a 5-0 mark in the GLVC. The Flyers picked up home wins over Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville last weekend. Junior guard Jamie Johnson leads Lewis with 20.1 points and 4.2 rebounds/game this season.
SCOUTING THE RANGERS: University of Wisconsin-Parkside enters the weekend with an overall record of 10-4 with a 3-2 mark in the GLVC. The Rangers have one three-straight, including home wins over Maryville University and University of Missouri-St. Louis last weekend. UW-Parkside is led by senior guard Gaby Bronson's 14.6 points and 5.9 rebounds/game this season.
MILESTONE WATCH: Senior guard
Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) needs 43 points to pass Ashley Agee for sixth place on McKendree's all-time scoring list. Ponce also needs 11 three-pointers to pass Katie Hasheider as the all-time leader in school history in career three-pointer's made.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Bearcats will travel to Springfield, Ill., on Monday, Jan. 19 for a game at University of Illinois at Springfield at 5:30 p.m.
