Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 29)- The McKendree University women's basketball team had a second half push, but came up short in a 67-53 loss to University of Southern Indiana.
The Bearcats fall to 2-16 overall and and 1-9 in the GLVC and will host Bellarmine University on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
Junior guard
Kelsee Ennis (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) scored a career-high 11 points, including a career-high matching two three pointers, and sophomore guard
Amber Alexander (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) added 10 points in the loss.
After shooting only 23-percent from the field in the opening half, McKendree found its rhythm after the break to claw back into the game. The Bearcats used a 7-0 run in the middle of the half to cut the deficit to 52-41, and got it down to 61-51 with 3:09 left in the game, but was unable to come within single digits in the loss.
McKendree shot 42.4 percent from the field in the second half, but Southern Indiana outscored the Bearcats 13-4 on second chance opportunities in the contest.
