(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 28)- The McKendree University men's soccer team honored its seniors with a 4-0 shutout win over University of Illinois Springfield in the season finale on Wednesday night.
The Bearcats end the season with an overall record of 6-10 and a 6-9 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Felipe Thompson (Santiago, Chile/Hurricane High School) put McKendree on the board in the eighth minute on a goal off an assist by
Vijay Brahmbhatt (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic High School) to take a 1-0 lead. It wouldn't be until the 70th minute that the Bearcats would strike again, but it started a run of three goals in a span of 18 minutes. Thompson struck again off a deflected shot by
David Cole (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) in the 70th minute to take a 2-0 lead, and
Tyler Hamilton (Bethalto, Ill./Alton High School) increased the lead to 3-0 in the 76th minute off a pass from Thompson. McKendree got its fourth and final goal of the game from Jonathan Woelfel in the 88th minute to earn the 4-0 win.

Scott Armistead (Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Peter's College) improved to 6-10 overall and had one save in the win.
Prior to the game, McKendree honored seniors Brahmbhatt, Cole, Woelfel, Armistead,
Jan Peters (Suedergellersen, Germany/Gymnasium Oedeme), and
Jordan Pratte (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central High School) in a senior day ceremony.
