(OWENSBORO, Ky., Dec. 20)- The McKendree University women's basketball team had five players score in double-figures on Sunday in a 74-56 win over Trevecca Nazarene University.
The Bearcats improve to 5-7 overall and will return to the court on Jan. 2 at Oakland City University at 1 p.m.
Freshman forward
Jordan Morton (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) led all players with a career-high 16 points and matched her career-high with 12 rebounds for the third-straight game. Senior guard
Ashley Klass (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) had 11 points, while senior guard
Kelsee Ennis (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South), junior forward
Shannon McGinnis (Niles, Ill./Trinity), and junior forward
Emily Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) each added 10 points.
McKendree faced a six-point deficit in the first quarter, but ended the period on a 7-0 run to hold a 15-14 lead. The Bearcats slowly extended their lead ot to double-digits, 34-24, with 1:12 left in the quarter and entered the half up 35-27.
McKendree led by as many as 16 in the third quarter, but the Trojans battled back and cut the score to 53-51 with 6:56 left in the game. The Bearcats didn't relinquish their lead down the stretch and came away with the 74-56 win.
